Last week I headed to Surrey for a camping weekend to prepare us for the expedition in Central America. Meeting a few people who would join me was reassuring and learning the reasons why we were going in more detail from people who had been there was incredibly useful.
The entire Friday it was pouring it down so we spent most of the time indoors debating, planning and discussing the long term sustainability goals as well as personal ones, our roles and practical information before heading to our dorm rooms and crashing. The following day we focused on cultural awareness and gender roles as well as team leading. Overall it was an intense and informative experience and the final step before I fly into San Jose in September and begin 13 weeks of expedition life which is both exciting and nerve-wracking!
