One by one the buses came to collect everyone in the early morning for one final goodbye. It was so emotional and there were many tears, as we realised how close we had all become and how hard it would be to never see each other again.
I was relieved to not have to wake up at 3.30am again though, and after a week of broken and minimal sleep I was starting to feel totally depleted of energy. I had so many technical problems with my laptop and had to finish up work before we completed the expedition, so ended up going to bed after 1am every day and getting up at 6am which I can see now was just foolish. It’s a learning process and I know I need to prioritise my health (and sanity!) in future and not be such a workaholic. Everything will get done either way, and by being well rested I would actually be able to work faster and more efficiently, which was a valuable lesson to learn.
