A SHORT TRIP TO BERLIN.
We flew to Berlin for a quick wander around the city and quickly fell in love with the vibrant energy of each borough. Mitte was the first area we went, browsing a few museums on Museum Island, and taking in the warm atmosphere of the Monbijoupark before exploring some graffiti covered alleyways, art galleries and wonderful book stores. This gallery is definitely worth checking out for contemporary photography and art: http://uk.lumas.com/galleries/berlin-mitte/
A QUICK LUNCH IN TIERGARTEN
Despite being October it was warm enough to sit outside and have lunch by the lake in Tiergarten. It was German Unity Day when we were there and so many people had come out to celebrate.
NEUKÖLLN AND KREUZBERG
From our airbnb room we strolled towards Kreuzberg, stopping by a wonderful cafe/vintage clothing shop called Sing Blackbird. http://singblackbird.tumblr.com. Although this area is quite small, there are many restaurants with every possible cuisine, several shops and interesting things to see. We kept on walking and were lucky enough to encounter the flea market by the river in Neukölln:
FOOD MARKET IN KREUZBERG
On the way to Kreuzberg we came across another large food market, which we later found out was held every weekend. This was such a treat and we sampled many lovely things, grabbed a few drinks on the way and sat in a small park, deciding to move to Berlin as soon as possible. The sheer quantity of markets available in Berlin is astounding, it’s difficult to chose between the many wonderful options and it’s easy to spend all day going from one market to another.
